OFFICERS

Dr. Smith received his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry.  After completing a general practice residency at Booth Memorial Hospital Medical Center, he received a specialty certificate in Prosthodontics from NYUCD’s Postgraduate Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics. He returned to NYUCD for an additional four years, obtaining a unique level of advanced training as a Fellow in the Postgraduate Implant Surgical Program. 


Dr Smith was an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at NYUCD, and is the former director of the Periodontal-Prosthetics program at New York Hospital, Queens Center.  He is presently an Associate Clinical Professor in the postgraduate Department of Prosthodontics and in the Implant Fellowship Program at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, and has had numerous articles published in the dental literature. Dr. Smith maintains a private practice in Manhattan along with his partners at Specialized Dentistry of New York. 

Dr. Robert W. Berg received his DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2003. He received his Certificate in Prosthodontics from Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in 2007. He currently maintains a full-time private practice limited to prosthodontics in Manhattan, NY. He is a clinical instructor in Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical College.

 

He is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Osseointegration, the International and American Associations for Dental Research, a fellow of the Northeastern Gnathological Society, and a fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He is a reviewer for the International Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Implants. With a primary interest in digital dental workflows, restorative/prosthetic materials and dental implants,

 

Dr. Berg has published numerous manuscripts, research abstracts, and continues to perform research in these areas.

Dr. Richard Sousa brings a unique set of skills to dentistry. He is not only a highly skilled dentist but also a talented dental technologist. Dr. Sousa’s dual skills in dentistry and technology help him achieve unparalleled levels of clinical excellence to create the look you desire as well as the comfort, and function you deserve.

He began his career as a laboratory technologist. When he was twelve years old, he began working in his fathers’ dental lab after school. He continued in the laboratory industry throughout college and for several years afterward, developing his skills and reputation as a ceramist, laboratory manager, consultant, and lecturer. At the age of thirty, he made the decision to go to dental school.

Dr. Sousa graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1989 followed by a residency in Cranio Mandibular Disorders also at NYU.

Dr Sousa has achieved the status of Fellow of the Northeastern Gnathological Society where is a member of the Board of Directors. He is an Active Member of the Academy of Osseointegration which is the foremost organization dedicated to implant dentistry. He is a Sustaining Member of The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is currently perusing accreditation with The American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry. In addition, he is a Master Dental Technologist and member of the American Society of Master Dental Technologists. He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Daniel Kerrigan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He earned his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with honors in Clinical Dentistry and received the Dr. Earle Banks Hoyt Award for excellence in teaching. After dental school, he completed specialty training in Prosthodontics at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. While at Montefiore, he received the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for outstanding achievement in the teaching of medical students. He is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and a Fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. Dr. Kerrigan maintains a private practice with Dr. Vincent Celenza in New York City.

Dr. Igor Gerzon received his DDS degree in 1987 from New York University College of Dentistry. From 1987 to 1989 he attended and successfully completed Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and received a Certificate in Prosthodontics. In 1991 he was invited to participate in a newly created Fellowship Program in Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry  developed by Dr.Dennis Tarnow. In 1993 Dr. Gerzon successfully  graduated in the first class of the Fellowship Program.

Since 1988 Dr. Gerzon has been a faculty at NYUCD. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics. Dr. Gerzon is the Director of Implant Surgery for the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics. 

 

Dr. Gerzon is a  member of American College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Osseointegration and ADA. He is a Fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and Northeastern Gnathological Society. Dr. Gerzon also serves on the board of ACP New York Section, GNYAP and NGS. He is a past President of ACP New York Section.
